On Valentine's - "See beneath your beautiful"

He walked over, sat beside her, took her hand. "I've never told anyone I loved them before," he began.
"I never loved anyone. Not a woman, not family, not a friend."
"Jack." Swamped with emotion, she brushed the hair from his brow.
"You just never had a chance to."

What had she expected? she asked herself.
No man would be comfortable around a woman after hearing a story like the one she'd told him. And why in God's name had she dumped out her past that way?
How could she have trusted him with pieces of herself that she'd never given anyone before?

Even Boyd, the person she considered her closest friend, knew only about the foster homes. As for the rest, she'd buried it-until last night. She didn't doubt that her tie to Liz had unlocked the door and let the nightmare back in.

But she should have been able to handle it, to hold back, to safeguard her privacy.
The fact that she hadn't could mean only one thing.
Indulging in a sigh, Althea pushed herself up and rested her brow on her knees. She was in love with Colt.

Ridiculous as it was, she had to face the truth. And, just as she'd always suspected, love made you stupid, vulnerable and unhappy. There ought to be a pill, she mused. A serum she could take. Like an antidote for snakebite.

The sound of footsteps had her whipping her head up.

Her eyes widened when Colt came to the doorway carrying a tray.

He had a split second to read her reaction before she closed it off. She'd thought he'd taken a hike, he realized grimly.
He was going to have to show the lady that he was sticking, no matter how hard she tried to shake him off.

I have a confession to make...

... until yesterday I didn't know who Timothy Olyphant was. Is.

First time I "heard" about him it was in:

She stopped, faced him. “So. I want to get married.”
“To me?”
“No, to Timothy Olyphant, but I’m settling for you.”
“Okay.”
“That’s it?”
“I’m still dealing with Timothy Olyphant, so give me a minute. I think I’m better-looking.”
“You would.”
“No, seriously. I’ve got better hair. But anyway.” He swooped her in, right up to her toes.

.........

“I really do love you,” she told him. “It’s kind of astonishing.”
“I’m a hell of a catch. Really better than Olyphant.”

But last night I watched this movie:

And if you haven't, go for it!

Small wonder Rowan brought him up - you know when you're throwing an hunk against another you should aim for one they would think of "competition" so you won't get back the "patsy" remark ahahahah
Funny, how before "knowing" Olyphant I'd imagine Gull pretty much this kind of guy
 - body, gestures, the tee-shirts and jeans type, soul... even the hair ahahahahah.

Valentine's is here! Watch the Movie! Read Chasing Fire! Love, Laugh and Live!!!

Best Snack Ever

She winked.
“With a little class. I made fancy hors d‟oeuvres.”
“Pigs in a blanket?”
When she laughed, tossing back her head the way she did, he poked her.
“I like pigs in a blanket.”
“You‟re not getting them tonight.”

Pigs-In-The-Blanket, Best Snack Ever

To my mind, having a steady supply of pastry-wrapped pork products close to hand is a sign of advanced intelligence. Because no matter which guests my sister has over at her place—be they grandparents or little nieces and nephews; food-loving lawyers, cops, or advertising executives; farmers, chefs, or restaurant owners; or me—it seems that all of them (excepting vegetarians, though I have seen even a few of those make exceptions for these little piggies) will unabashedly gobble up pigs-in-the-blanket.
